Review of Maryville, Tennessee

Beautiful mountains and the arts
Star Rating - 2/25/2010
I grew up in Tennessee but only moved back to Maryville a year and a half ago. I'd forgotten how much there is to do and see here, but I didn't forget the beauty of the Smoky Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest. We are surrounded by beauty everywhere and there is something to do for everyone!
We are roughly 30 minutes from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There is every type of outdoor sport you can imagine such as hiking, canoeing, white water rafting, hang gliding, water skiing and snow skiing just to name a few. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg offer water parks, musical dinner shows, tons of outlet malls, specialty shops, a great aquarium and countless other activities.
Maryville college is located here and is a private college rich in the arts having just opened its new Clayton Center for the Arts. We have a lovely downtown with nice restaraunts, cafe's, bakeries, some night spots and quaint shops.
We are only 20 minutes away from Knoxville, TN and there is great shopping there, not to mention the University of Tennessee.
There are four distinct seasons here and every one of them is beautiful in its own regard.
With all the activities that abound here my favorite thing still to do in the early morning and the evening is to watch the sun rise and set over the beautiful Smoky Mountains that I call home!
