Review of Clovis, New Mexico

Get out and explore! Clovis is close to a lot!
Star Rating - 4/28/2019
Clovis isn't going to win any beauty pageants, and driving along the highways you will see many old ugly buildings, and you will be driving through the poorest areas. If you are single you will struggle in Clovis if lazy, and not outgoing (not many places to go for big night life, and not many singles). If you are single you will need to make some effort to meet people. If not religious, don't rule religious activities and maybe you might learn some interesting history of religion. Go to church to meet people, join a club, new job, or volunteer. Clovis is great base for touring the WORLD CLASS museums, national parks, snow skiing, competitive HS sports, World class Star gazing outside the city(just look up as well in the city), World class sunsets, 300 plus days of sunshine, Casino's, archeology digs/museums, Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands National park, 2 large lakes about 1 to 2 hours from Clovis, 1000's of day trips to visit New Mexico's finest places and Texas. Santa Fe and Albuquerque are just 3 hour drive that offers everything you can think of including millions of acres of public Forrests, and Rafting. New Mexico has unlimited outdoor activities that cost almost nothing because 60 percent of NM land is controlled by the Federal and State to explore(Texas land is 95 percent privately owned, so not many places to go that are free or not trespassing). The summer nights cool down every night to the 60's due to Clovis high altitude over 4000 feet(almost as high as ABQ, and Denver). Clovis does get the stink smell when the wind blows from the south from the stock yard smell(rarely occurs). Clovis does have a noisy railroad yard at times. Clovis is windy in the Spring and during storms. Clovis can be boring(same as everywhere), but that isn't always a problem because of all the activities you can drive dto in a short period of time. Clovis does have a medical Marijuana store as well if needed, and Colorado is a short drive(NM may go full Rec 2019 for all the lovers of the green). NM may sell a lot of green when that gets passed. Clovis is 1 and 1/2 hours to 3 hours away from international airports to fly anywhere(ABQ,Lubbock, Amarillo, Santa Fe). To all the service men/women at Canon Air Force base, Thank you for your service. IF you hate Clovis, get off your ass and explore and quit whining there is nothing to do. It is your fault you are in Clovis, you signed up. No one is to blame but yourself, if you hate your life. We don't like your bad attitudes especially toward a city that is what it is. A High plains farming/ranching community with a air force base out in the middle of no where. Hallelujah! My family came her in the 1800's in a wagon for a HOMESTEAD, thus I didn't have a choice until I was 18 y/o. I packed my bags, and only visit my parents/friends for a Holiday/Ski trip. Years later I realized, Clovis, Roswell, Carlsbad, and others are not as bad as my 18 y/o eyes were witnessing if married and a working in a high paying job.

LOVED this place! Stationed there from 1983-1993 and it became my second home! Many of my best days were there....I love the parks, outdoors, and small town atmosphere! In fact I plan on visiting soon.
