Review of Brunswick, Ohio

Up and coming, but needs to change its demographic
Star Rating - 3/18/2013
Lived here a few years and kept asking myself why. The city had poor planning and no vision, but it seems to be getting better. Alot of younger people have moved in, but the city council is not sensitive to the needs of the changing community. The infrastructure is poor as the roads are the worst I have ever seen of any place I have lived in the US. Access throughout the city is poor for buisnesses to gain any ground. The locals demand more retail and restaurants, but the council solution is to develop more medical and stores that are not family based. Seriously how many medical facilities, pizza deliveries, and auto part stores do we need? Lets make everyone fat and charge them an arm an a leg to give them a chance to shop for their goods outside of the city.

The building sites are old and shabby and are an eyesore and looks like something out of the 60's. They either need a facelift or torn down and the city should mandate it (i.e the Frontier building and half the buildings on Pearl). Pearl also needs to be widened to give the buisness a chance to allow fo more traffic and increased exposure.

It seems like the city council is creating an economy for the dead and not the living, with the addition of the new Panera may make it interesting, but we need to start getting more retail to keep the tax revenue in the city and draw people in, not scare them away.

On the positive note the city is safe because all the tax revenue is going to Public safety, so at least we have something to be proud of.
