Review of Lincoln, Nebraska

Lincoln - living
Star Rating - 3/28/2010
This is very true, there is not much to do here in Lincoln and there are way too many bars downtown(full of uppity UNL students-I used to work nights serving theses drunken fools) I am a Nebraska native, but born and partially raised in Omaha. I also lived in Chicago for a short while.
I absolutely hate Lincoln.
If you are a minority do not move here, if you are Black do not move here. If you enjoy true diversity of people and world views do not move here. If you want a city with good public transportation do not move here because it is a joke, and people around here a very snobish concerning this topic. No bus service on Sundays and no evenings at all even though this is the "Capital City". This is basically a fanatic football college town.
All that being said if you can stand it, it is a great "generic" city to raise a family in. If you want to teach your children in that type of environment. ( I know I do not) I am saving up to move out as soon as possible.
This is a good place to go to college.
Honestly though I am tired of looking at white people all day. I'm not racist, I just need to see more faces of color it is very demoralizing, even the white people I speak with can't stand it. (but they are only working class whites so what they think does not matter).
If you want a generic, not too fussy life style and are conservative by all means move to the Lincoln.
If you desire diversity, an open mind, a variety of cultural activities, good public transportation, to be able to walk into a store and find products and see people that represent you, do not move here.
Also if you are a non- white person or even a white person who is not well connected do not expect to move up career wise, but that could be said of a lot of places.
