Review of Navarre Flor,

Good place to Live
Star Rating - 12/28/2007
I moved here in spring of 2001 so I've seen much of he growth; still there is a very strong "hometown" feel to Navarre. The people in Navarre area strongly supports the community activities and schools. As the town grows so do the challenges; but keeping everything in perspective, the quality of life here is still great and the traffic is nothing compared to cities or some of the places I've lived overseas and in the U.S..

We were once strictly a bedroom community for Fort Walton beach to the east and Pensacola to the west, but that has changed drastically as Navarre is coming into its own. The people of the community have particiapted in drafting a Town Center Plan to guide the the type of growth and how Navarre will look through the creation of an archetectual committee for a core area of Navarre. It satisfies me to see the time that is being put into how new retail construction looks and not just put up a box. Super Wal Mart was one of the first to be subject to the new requirments and designed an excellent facility inside and out. Up next is Home Depot whose plans have been kicked back to the drawing board for modifications.

Navarre is a failry new emerging town with most of the growth coming since 2000 in the form of residential construction. The retail and services ahve been coming since the past couple years and therefore has gvien this town the a clean slate to get it right the first time.

We live in a beautiful coastal community with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world; crystal white sand and emerald blue green water. On Navarre beach in the next few months will be the construction/repair of a former state park on the beach to become a county park. When finished it will be one of the most beautiful county or city parks in the country and certainly a unique one. There are many annual community events that allow residents to get involved and become a part of the community. People are friendly and crime is low in this diverse community.

The schools here are always in the top 10 school districts in the state, year after year after year the kids in this community consistenly beat the other kids acrosss the state in how they perform on the state comprehensive test. We represent Northwest Florida very well in school sports which are heavily supported by the community.

We are surrounded by very large military bases with more units due in the next couple years. Eglin AFB, Naval Training Center Pensacola, Naval Air St
