Changes in Lompoc We lived in Lompoc from 1986 to 1993 and have returned to see friends. It's a great town although the folks from Santa Barbara snub this small town. Housing costs have gone up dramatically over the past 5 years. The town, after a city wide election, allowed Wal-Mart to open up on the north end which ended up producing a lot of sales tax $$ for Lompoc. Lompoc is off the beaten track but a good place to raise a family if you can afford the housing.
