I love how you can tell you're close to the water. I used to live on an island in the Aleutian Chain and I got used to the fact that the ocean was immediately present, always. I didn't realize how much I loved being close to the water until I moved away (to Rochester, WA) and visited Portland, which is right on the river. There is a different feel to the air close to large bodies of water and it is a feel I have come to love about Aberdeen. I don't ever want to live somewhere that isn't close to the ocean again!
