I have hated a few places
It usually comes down to frustration over an endless horizon of buildings and traffic, crowds of people and feeling isolated in the thick of it all. This is most places. "I can't wait to leave this **** hole," I always say yet in the end I grew to love them. I do appreciate the local countryside of Merced, in spite of the growth and expansion that took place. I grew up here. It holds memories of a period in my early adult life when I often felt hopeless and stuck, yet became very hopeful to leave. I was going somewhere then, and I did. This was 7 years ago, and returning with a leg-up in the world I often feel like I'm right back where I started. Jobless, hopeless and stuck. Attending Merced College where I get the feeling few actually attend to graduate. Looking around it's not very inspiring for someone wanting to explore a new beginning or to get a fresh start. The face of this city isn't as I remember - every where you go, it's down and out and people struggling. If you are searching for a way out of here and find one, it's a mistake to ever come back.
