Corruption and Crime (the co-joined twins) Do not consider moving to the Chicago area. Just visit to experience the multitude of activities that are here. Then leave. High property and sales taxes, incessant crime and a culture of corruption made possible by decades of entrenched Democratic Party zombies make this a poor choice for a homeowner and someone seeking a good quality of life. The high taxes (state income tax doubled under the Democrats two years ago) have driven businesses and jobs away from Illinois in droves (good for the businesses...they voted with their feet). People bitch about the cold winters here, yet they believe in the global warming hype. Go figure. (Al Gore has not been seen here lately).
