Climate and location It rains here a lot. We joke that when the forecast says a 50% chance of rain that it will rain 50% of the day. However, when the sun shines it is beautiful. It is green year round. Puget sound is 1/2 hour away and you can be in the mountains in an hour. Although Mt Vernon lies between Bellingham and Seattle (very large cities) it still has a rural feel.
