I've lived near Kokomo for a year and a half. I'm here because my elderly parents are here; I probably wouldn't have moved here just to do it. That said, there are worse places. It is hard to find a job with more than an associates degree. I have a master's in history and I might as well be an alien species. I haven't found many friends here, but I don't hate it. There is a good Thai restaurant, a good brewery and restaurant, and plenty of good Mexican restaurants. You can find a yoga or pilates class if you want, there's a little Asian market, and they have been working hard to make the downtown more beautiful and arty. There are festivals and farmer's markets in the summer. My situation is this: I'm a 34 year old introvert with a serious boyfriend who lives near Indy. I don't go out in Kokomo, and I'm a big reader, crafter, and internet user, so I'm fairly content. I go to see my boyfriend every weekend and do my going out down in Indy. If you're a young person with professional aspirations, this might not be the place for you. If you're older, settled, and have a decent job, there are worse places you could live.
