Great Place for a Family to Call Home ... Now don't get me wrong, but if you grew up in Roseville ... Downtown Sacramento was rarely a place you went to ... maybe not true for all native Roseville folk, but I KNOW many of us can relate. I like Sacramento and what Downtown can offer (particularly as far as jobs, living experience and before the Galleria Mall-shopping experience). I love Roseville and below I will give you what "my opinion only" is of Roseville if you are relocating to the area. City is well-designed and you have everything you need here. I grew up in Roseville and have seen it explode in size, but somehow they have managed to do a pretty decent job monitoring growth through good development plans. Parks are wonderful and so are a majority of the schools. Downtown Roseville has been improved dramatically and continues to do so. You have a lot of good/great golf courses locally both private and public. Water park in town for summertime fun so you don't have to go to Cal Expo anymore and fight the crowds. Raising children here is made easier by the abundance of activities both in the summertime and throughout the year. Very active community for those with little ones put on by the City Rec dept. So much to do. If you are looking for a swinging singles community, this will probably be a boring place to live (minus our mall with high-end lines-Galleria Mall), but wonderful for raising a family. We also have a wonderful retirement community, Del Webb Roseville, on the West side of town. Close freeway access for most areas. Only drawback is for those commuting to Sacramento how HWY 80 bottlenecks once you enter Placer County/Roseville City lines. This may seriously age you, but many are used to it. If your exit is after the Auburn/Riverside exit ... take a Deeeep Breath. They are taking some means to make this a smoother transition finally. Airport is about 30-45 minutes away depending on traffic. Established neighborhoods are often intermingled with new ones in the West area. Depends what your needs are ... Oh did I mention we don't have the PG&E bills of Rocklin & Sacramento? Niccceee. Roseville has it's own power company. Telephone has since been acquired by SureWest for those who remember Roseville Telephone. Hope you enjoyed my "attempt" to be unbiased about my hometown.
