The Town of Trumbull is part of the 22nd Congressional District of Connecticut, which is represented by Congressman Jahana Hayes in the US House of Representatives. Locally, Trumbull operates under a Town Council/Town Manager form of government with seven elected members on the Board of Selectmen and a Town Manager who oversees the operations of each department within the town.The Town Council is responsible for developing policies and laws related to local affairs such as taxation, public works projects, environmental regulations, zoning ordinances and land use issues. Political issues are discussed openly at Town Hall Meetings where citizens can express their opinions without fear or intimidation. Local elections are held every two years which enables citizens to choose who will best represent their interests on various boards and commissions within Trumbull's government structure.
