Jackson, MI is a charming city located in south central Michigan. It is the county seat of Jackson County and home to a wide variety of people from all backgrounds. The city is governed by an elected mayor and seven-member city council. The city council meets monthly to discuss policy issues such as land use, residential development, economic development, infrastructure investments, public safety improvements, and recreation facilities. The mayor also works closely with the state and local government representatives to ensure that the interests of all Jacksonians are represented at the local level. Additionally, the mayor appoints members for various committees which focus on specific areas such as education and public services, finance and budgeting, parks and recreation, public housing services, public relations, technology management services, transportation planning services and zoning regulations. Overall, the politics in Jackson have been largely positive for its citizens with local leaders working diligently to ensure that the city's best interests are always put first.
