Montezuma County is located in southwestern Colorado with a population of 25,535 people occupying an area of 2069 sq mi . It is bordered by La Plata to the southeast and Dolores County to the northwest while overlooking San Juan / Ute Mountain Tribal Park on its eastern side . Montezuma's main industries are tourism oriented around its extensive archaeological sites such as ancient cliff dwellings/ruins or reconstructed native villages like “The Crow Canyon Country” but also supported by cattle ranching & farming operations.
