Bureau County is located in North-Central Illinois and encompasses 655 square miles of farmland, rolling hills and wooded areas. It has a population of 33,659. The county seat is Princeton and the state capital of Springfield is 170 miles away. The Kishwaukee River flows through the county and provides an abundance of recreational opportunities. Agriculture is the largest industry in Bureau County, with corn and soybeans being the two major crops. Tourism is also popular in the area as there are numerous museums, historic sites, golf courses and other attractions to explore.
