Chowan County, NC connects Perquimans (along its northern edge) near Elizabeth City Metropolitan centre giving us an estimated 2020 census population standing at 14,533 making it the 63rd most populous county located hereabouts. Its county seat is Edenton with other towns including Hertford & Tyner – Edenton itself equates out to Chowan’s most populous city aside from acknowledged county seat. This area had been formed out of Currituck and Perquimans Counties back in 1739 when local citizens petitioned for new administrative boundaries - posthumously named after Chowanook tribe also known by collective name ‘Chesepioc Indians’ thanks General Assembly who approved such decision earlier that same year.
