Other towns in this area include Bovina, Friona, Lazbuddie & Melrose amongst others with Friona being its most populous city (aside from Farwell). Parmer County was formed from parts of Bailey & Castro Counties back in 1876 and posthumously named after Martin Parmer – ex-signer for Texas Declaration Of Independence just before it became part of US union in 1845.
