Polk County, TX is located in the Deep East Texas region near Louisiana border with an estimated population of 45,010 making it one of the more populous counties hereabouts. Its county seat is Livingston and other cities include Onalaska & Goodrich amongst other small towns spread across this area. Polk County had been formed from parts of Liberty County back in 1846 when it was still part of Mexico (Texans won their freedom when becoming state a year later). It was posthumously named after James K Polk who served as 11th US President between 1845–49 inclusive.
