San Francisco is only gettting more expensive - 1/13/2011

I've lived in San Francisco since 1982 and have watched this city evolve into a huge metro city. The city changed drastically since the dot com boom. All of a sudden prices of homes soared. After the dot com implosion prices have not some down. Crime has increased since I've lived here. If anyone is thinking about relocation, do your homework before moving here; expect sticker shock of housing, parking, bridge tolls ($6.00 per day). Thanks SC

Born and raised here (CA), but ... - 1/3/2011

California is tired and battered. The Politicians and the unions are slowly grinding this poor state to its knees. To listen to some, California is broke and things are not getting better. I am an eternal optimist, but you can only beat a dead horse for so long. 2011 is just starting. California has elected to 4 years a Governor which has had that position before and did nothing to help the state out of the past before, so I don't see many changes coming down the line from him. He will be happy with the status quo and I have a feeling he is just wanting to add to his retirement package before that takes place. I keep hoping things will improve here in California. Governor Arnold was supposed to have done some big time changes, but the reality of politics here and the Unions kept him from doing much. It is so sad to see my great state in such a dismal place right now. So many business have left us locally (Kern County), many recently to the poor economic situation. But before that companies were relocating to other states due to restrictions put on them either economically or for other reasons. There are many wonderful things about California, but the politicians and the Unions have got to loosen up their death grip on this state.

California used to be my home sweet home - 1/2/2011

I am a fifth generation Californian. Unfortunately, due to the economy and the horrible mismanagement of this beautiful state, we can no afford to live and do business here. The P.C., ultra-liberal, immoral climate has run into the ground. It is no longer the city my father was born in. I am so sad to leave this beautiful state but look forward to a better quality of life and some sense of sane living else where. Carrie Gray-Thousand Oaks, California

If you don't like California...GO AWAY!!!! - 12/22/2010

I am 53 years old and have called California my home for most of those years. Yes...California (not Cali) has problems but so does every other state. You pay a premium to live here but it is well worth it. You have the Pacific Ocean in one direction, the Sierra Nevada Mountains in another and everythng you could ever want in between. If you don't like California....feel free to leave otherwise make the best of it. LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT....IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU!!

Central Valley of California - 11/26/2010

California has a higher than average cost of living but the central valley area is a good bet. Most of the central valley is a slow moving farming population in a moderate change motion. The central valley is growing with new housing developments but little job opportunities. A rapid rail system has just been approved and with help greatly with collective transportation to and from the Bay Area. Must become acclimated to poor air quality and enjoy quiet walks in beautiful orchards.

Fantastic Weather - 10/29/2010

The most moderate beautiful climate in the world-Los Angeles, California. If you enjoy winter sports-skiing, etc is 90 minutes away. Most of the year is sunny and clear-no need for a coat.

Time for a change - 10/28/2010

I've lived in california for 38 years now and times are tough. Jobs are extremely hard to come by because of the economy, but that's true everywhere. California is one state to visit, for a few days, but not to live, at least not to me.

The truth about Racism in Northern CA - 10/11/2010

CA, Welcome and Surprise!!! It's the State's best guarded secret - CA is the most racist state in the US, and Northern CA is infested with (self-described) "drunk rednecks with guns" ... ignorant, and hell-bent on staying that way. Almost everyone, it seems, with a disabled plate, they really know how to milk the Liberal system they claim to hate so much - yet we see so many living off it. All these disabled wonders, athletic, working two to three jobs, enough energy left over to act out in their sordid little neighborhood hate groups... If they break a fingernail they know how to wangle State disability...no wonder CA is bankrupt, financially and morally.

Living in stockton ca - 8/15/2010

Yes, I must agree with you about Stockton, CA for I still live here do to the fact my mother lives with me and is a Kaiser Member. If it wasn't for that and the fact I work for her through IHSS we would be long gone!! So, far someone tried to break into this old house with a pocket knife and my good friend down the street stopped him. Then my neighbor across the street said she saw a couple trying to break into my car but because we let our dogs out for a potty break (around 2:00pm)it scared them off! Too many homeless keep pressuring you for money don't they know if we have money we would be long gone from here! The little change we have is just enough to get us through to the next pay period, some people have to use the cash in advance. It just isn't fair! My husband let our dogs out at 3:00am to go potty and a man sleeping under a tree next to our fence lifted up his head (spooked my husband) asked him for some spare change. Not too long ago a dead body was found next to the railroad tracks on the other side from our back yard. Every time we pick up the paper we saw people who walk around our area even in the day get robbed while walking their dogs or riding their bikes. It's the wild wild west better get your guns out! They cut back on their police do to the fact the state is going bankrupt can't get a budget because they pay all those politicans(mayors, commissioners, chief of police you name it) more than they worth or need. Especially those retirees. So, make friends with those around you and find things you can do to make life more interesting. So, far I am so bored living in this 2 bdrm house too scared to go out and mingle with the neighors for fear I might be a victim. Enjoy your life! I would love to ride my bike or walk my dogs.
