| Too Many Cars - 8/4/2008
There are too many cars for the number of highways in CT. It is possible to spend one hour going three exits whenever there is an accident. I enjoy almost everything else about the state; great beaches, hiking trails, shopping, etc. But the traffic congestion diminishes our quality of life.

| Transportation - 5/22/2008
I work in Bridgeport and live in Stamford. The only way I can commute is by car. I would like to take the train, but there is no place to leave my car at the train station. There is a very very long wait for any parking spots in Stamford, Noroton Heights, and Darien. I've been told from 2 - 5 years. There is no bus, to the best of my knowledge that goes from Stamford to Bridgeport. If we are to help the environment and reduce traffic on I-95 there should be a way to travel between CT's bigger cities.

| Utopia...if you can afford it - 4/25/2008
Moved here from Northern California about 5 years ago. Have been living in a small town in Litchfield County ever since. Yes, the cost of housing is expensive....and so is heating oil, etc.. But let me tell you this, I live in a town of about 4,000 people and I haven't locked my doors since moving here. In fact, I honestly don't have any idea where my house keys are. We don't lock the doors when we go on vacation!!! Do you know why there are so many generations of families that never leave New England? Because there is no better place to move..period. We've lived in the south, we've lived out west, we have family that live in the central states, Connecticut...and the New England region in general is the only place left in the country where you can still find Ozzie and Harriet...Leave It To Beaver, etc... I NEVER want to move from here.

north east connecticut has everything i look for. small towns with lots of wooded areas, easy access to major highways and major cities(boston,ma, new york, hartford,ct, providence,ri,) lots of lakes and ponds for fishing, a beautiful coast line with the warmest salt water in new england. tons of historic sites from colonial homes to maritime museums and light houses, all the things you come to new england for.

| Connecticut's For the Rich - 10/9/2007
CT is a pretty state that has three fatal flaws:
1. For such a small state it feels very overcrowded and population density is high.
2. High cost of living including taxes on just about everything. They even charge you a property tax each year on your car, so if you buy a new(er) car expect to pay a couple of thousand each year.
3. Housing and land are cost prohibitive for all but the wealthy. Middle class feels the squeeze. Of course, the underclass gets a free ride on just about everything thanks to onerous taxes and ever-expanding social services. Wait till the State builds a methadone clinic in your town.
The best county is Litchfield if you can stand the long commute.

| Taxes - 7/17/2007
There is not too much that the tax man (currently a woman) has missed. Connecticut has one of the highest tax rates per capita in the country.

| CT is Best of Both Worlds - 5/31/2007
As a result of a new job in Mansfield, Massachussetts, my wife and I have started looking for a new place to live to reduce the current 1 1/2 Hr commute from Vernon to Mansfield 3 days per week. We have visited many towns in MA already and have done some research using your site to evaluate eductation, crime, cost of living, air and water quality data. We still believe CT is a great place to live. Most towns offer large supermarkets and retail outlets nearby and the quality of our education and health care systems is excellent. Access to fresh water and salt water beaches is generally less than an 1 1/2 hr drive. We have been spoiled by CT. Unfortunately, CT is losing alot of industries due in part to their high corporate tax rate and high cost of living. Unfortunately, I have followed my high-tech customers into MA and must relocate.

| Living in Connecticut - 5/18/2007
Connecticut is a great state to live, with a rich variety of topography and lifestyle, coastal, country and urban, and much of the state within easy reach of New York City.

| Connecticut - 3/28/2007
The wealthiest state in the union. No infrastructure, few highways, poorly maintained roads, extreme poverty. Hartford, New Haven, Stamford riddled with crime, poverty. This state has a long history of complete failure in leadership and a government riddled with corruption. A billion dollar surpluse, yet they are unable to attract business, provide jobs, reduce crime and address the needs of the people. Don't move to Connecticut.

| Cost of Living in CT - 3/10/2007
Utilities and fuel one of the highest, if not the highest in containental USA.
Housing and property taxes pretty close to top, also. North-Eastern part of the state less expensive/South-Western and Hartford area, most expensive. School systems fairly good, but Board of Ed usually controls town/city budgets.

Connecticut has become so very expensive and it is just not worth it. The climate is undesirable. We love being close to NYC, though.

| Bridgeport is like every other large city - 8/22/2006
It's NOT the worst city in CT (check out Hartford and New Haven criminal records in the local library) but it has the worst reputation due to being in ritzy Fairfield County. Yes, there is crime. Cars are stolen. Jobs can be scarce. However, you take the same precautions that you would in any large and/or impoverish city (New York, Phoenix, Boston, Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, etc. etc.) Currently there is a minor league baseball and hockey team, two theaters and one auditorium. I graduated from the University of Bridgeport. I was not born here but moved in 1980. I have lived in my current neighborhood for 20 years. There are homeowners on my block who were there before me. If things were that bad why would they stay after raising their children and grandchildren? A lot of people paint the city as one big slum with criminals lurking in every corner. There are projects as well as quiet, family-oriented neighborhoods, urban areas, a condo city and a section known as Black Rock with pricey $$$ homes. The thing that frightens me the most about Bpt. is the taxes. I hate having to pay an enormous amount in taxes due to mismanagement and a handful of corrupt politicians. That is why I would steer someone away from the area.
