| No way I would live there again - 5/4/2006
I was born and raised in Fayetteville. I moved away for good in 1997. This town has nothing to offer young people, especially educated young people. This place is for the baby boomer generation and older. This is a dingy military town. Crime is high for a city of this size. Nightlife is a disappointment at best. Meeting single women is almost impossible, useless you're a church goer, soldier, or don't mind women with children at a young age. Most of the women are looking for the GI Joes. This is very much a bible belt place. Churches are everywhere along with people trying to get you to join. Another poster stated the population is diverse, but still segregated. I second that. The summers are miserable, high heat and humidity. Unless you want to work in food or retail, good paying jobs are not in this town. If you're looking for a lively downtown or culture, not here. However, if you need a used car or a pawn shop, this town has to be the capital for both. If my parents did not live here, it would be unlikely I would come back, except to visit a few people I know. My favorite thing about Fayetteville is that I don't live there. For anyone looking at moving here, think 3 times before doing it.

| No Future - 1/19/2006
No major industries added in last 40yrs. The industries that were there are either gone or its just a matter of time for the only 2 remaining. No future job prospects except Military and cheap retail. Ajacent counties, More,Harnett and Lee intice more industry. Cumberland county relies on Ft. Bragg payroll, but more and more Federal contracts for BRAC and other Bragg support are going to other counties. No place to raise a family, major crime is 4 to 5 times national average. Very diverse population with no prospects, go figure?

| life in fayetteville - 10/14/2005
I grew up in Fayetteville; and in the 21 years I lived there, I rarely felt safe as a female to move around alone. As far as social life, there are plenty of things to do like restaurants and movie theaters and shopping. But things are so spread out, you have to drive everywhere. Like any town that size, it has its positives and negatives. As a native, I'd have to say I would probably not consider moving back.

| two years living here was enough for me - 9/5/2005
Theres no high tech jobs the only thing there is to work for is retail and fast food ,the city is very diverse because its a military town but still unofficially segregated . Its nearly impossible to make friends here because the locals are close minded about meeting new people and the military guys are just antisocial .
DONT EVER MOVE HERE !!! Unemployment rate is 7 % !!!!!!!!
