| Nice area for winter months (Central Fl) - 12/29/2008
For now, this is our home during the winter months. We are trying to make the decision to relocate here full time from Indiana. The are has alot to offer... Lakeland is between Tampa and Orlando on Interstate 4. There is a small town charm in this mid size town.

| Florida Weather - 12/2/2008
The weather here in South Florida is lovely in the Winter, mild climates and low humidity. However, the rest of the year is miserable. Summers are hot and humid with daily thunderstorms and the hurricane season is horrid.

| Sweating in flip flops 24/7. - 11/24/2008
My family and I live in Florida,3+ years now, in the Sarasota and Charlotte counties.
I absolutely regret moving here to be near my mother and family members.
We moved here from California (Bay area)to excape the very expensive rent and utilities and bad luck with my husband finding a stable, reliable blue collar job. Most of his jobs were salary and had him work 7 days/week, night and day and breaking labor laws and no one seemed to care.
We are veterans, and have we lived and worked(civilian)in many places.
The best place would be Washington state(Seattle/Tacoma areas). We lived there for 10 years. Mild weather all year round and never had to use a shovel in the winter. The air is always fresh and the mountains and vegetation is beautiful(The Emerald State). washington is industrial, productive, and progressive. Lots of jobs for the blue collar worker in lots of foods/meats/bakery production and assembly lines producing all kinds of items. A lot of major brand wharehouse distribution to the world. Even housekeeping jobs pay well - $13.00/hour including travel time to start, with company car and phone!!!!! The cost of living is stable and offers a qualilty of life for families and so much better in comparison to Florida. My husband and I made $6,000 together per month working blue collar and I regret moving from there back then....How stupid of me to think we would have it good relocating to California!!!!!!!
Florida is extremely humid and hot. Mosquitos and red ants everywhere - Make sure you have your lawn sprayed $$$ and don't work outdoors! It's like living in a sauna..... Forget about makeup and hair ladies!!!! Constipation...drink your fluids!! We have had trouble finding any jobs. All mostly low paying jobs with NOOOO benefits in elderly care, in air conditioning, lawn care, housekeeping(averaging $5-9/hour), seasonal or PT cashier, some labor wharehouse for $8-$12/hour, and extremely low paying hospitality/service jobs ($2-$6/hour). No production, assembly, manufacturing, going on anywhere. A lot of the jobs that do exist here are taken by the retired looking to make a little extra money.......they are more dependable as they do not have kids and don't do much! There are a lot of old people and many are not nice; They are paranoid about us younger people. They are self pittied, and think the rest of us all don't deserve anything better for our families. The rich retired are haters, are prudent, have proven to be p

| What happened to reasonable costs in South Fl? - 8/1/2008
We moved here from New York City in 1995. We had it made with cheap home prices, low cost of living and not to crowded either. When we moved we said we needed to buy 10 years to raise our son , and thats just about what we got. Crime is through the roof now, costs for services, fuel and utilities are among the highest in the country and IF i was ever able to sell, I couldn't afford to buy my own house back! I recently saw a in depth study that said Miami was more expensive that Honolulu! Maybe we should head there....Bottom line.. if you have a TON of money, Palm Beach County is beautiful . If not, look elsewhere.

| Florida Sucks - 6/13/2008
If you are born and raised in Florida then you hate it. It once was a beautiful place to live, until here came the northerners. All you here them say is " In that screechy, nasally voice " Back home we did it like this or back home we did it like that. Or the hand on the chest saying 'OH MY GOD' Well GO HOME. Fran Drescher does not live here and nor should you.

| For everyone thinking South Florida is great... - 4/13/2008
I have lived in south florida for 36 years...my husband for 38. South Florida is nothing more than an overpopulated state with tons of people moving here every day from all over the country. The weather has one season...HOT! Yes, it gets cool for a week or two each year...but the change from 50 one day to 92 the next is enough to make you scream! Hurricane season is from June 1-November 30 every year, there are tornadoes, a host of disgusting bugs (mosquitos, palmetto bugs, fire ants, etc) as well as a host of poisonous critters (rattlers, water moccasins, scorpions and widow spiders to name a few). We have been trying to GET OUT OF HERE for years. If you still want to move here (Coconut Creek, specifically), let me know...you can buy our manufactured home that we have for sale.

| Home sweet home - 1/25/2008
I am a native Floridian who moved away and back again in my childhood. I truly love this area and all its different kinds of people and year round things to do..HOWEVER, I do think it is difficult for the middle class average person to make it without a partner or spouse. I am a single mother and although I have a decent income it is still very hard to get by. The home prices seem to be slowly dropping but jobs are not plentiful and the cost of property taxes and insurance seems to still be very high.

| Tax/Ins,out of control - 1/13/2008
After 35 years of great weather I can not afford to live here or make any investments here because of the tax & Insurance, South Florida especially, Unfriendly people, yes they wave but with there middle finger, you are always at the race track at all traffic lights as it turns green the horn behind you goes off, I would move but i have a 14 year old who has been in the same school CCA Fort Lauderdale (Which We Love)and it is not fair to take him out so when he graduates in 3 pus years it is out of here, Oh did I also say that I do not speak the language in So Fl.

| South Florida - 12/31/2007
With all of the turmoil and fallout from the subprime mess, Florida is taking a particularly hard hit in the housing sector. And, with fuel prices rising, this too, is causing overall tourism to be a bit on the decline. But with this all said, you can be assured that Florida will bounce back even better once this credit crunch is repaired. Florida's climate, which continues to beckon people from far away colder climates, is still a very welcomed constant, though a bit dry due to the drought that is plaqueing the Southeastern US. With its balmy winter temperatures, and exceptional night life, the jet set, along with the curious, flock here for their fun in the sun. South Florida has such an wonderful international flavor with a fine Latin/Caribbean feel, making it a great cultural learning experience for all. Also, South Florida has become an important financial and economic gateway to the Caribbean and Latin American countries. The cruise ship and cargo shipping industries are thriving here with two major ports of call within 40 miles of each other. And, let us not forget, there are also two international airports within the same 40 mile radius making travel to exotic destinations easily attained. South Florida is also home to numerous learning establishments such as the University of Miami, Florida International University, Florida Atlantic University, Nova Southeastern University, just to name a few.
Overall, South Florida is a mecca of cultural diversity, great opportunities, exceptional nightlife, renowned Universities, and superb climate. These attributes will help South Florida overcome any adversities that have and/or may arise in the future!

| Pleasant Climate in the Winter - 12/19/2007
The winter time in south Florida can be very pleasant. 70 degrees to 77 degrees during the day. Evening can be in the low 60s. Summers can be really humid and hot. The beach always has a breeze so that's where you need to go when it is hot and humid.

| Do Not be Fooled by the Advertised Lower Cost Of L - 12/12/2007
Florida is a great place to live, wonderful weather and plenty of activites all year.
If you are thinking about moving to Florida, take time before you move to determine the true cost. Lower wadeges, high property tax, and higher electric, water, waste services, etc. I was very supprised when I moved from California to find that the hidden cost made a significant impact to my life style.
Florida is a great place, just make sure you know the cost.
Have a great day, where ever you live.
