Way to expensive!! - 12/14/2006

I've lived in St. Pete/Pinellas County my intire life. Currently the cost of living is through the roof. If you have a house that you have to pay flood insurance on, well then forget Christmas for the kids, you will have to use that money for the insurance and then some. The apartment cost is insane also, $850 a month for a 750sq foot 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment, and not luxury, or in a good neighborhood, just a plan cookie cutter apartment complex. It's hard for someone with two full time jobs to live here, and impossible for the single mother trying to make it on her own. To sum this comment up I'd say just take a look at ome of the key point. The crime index for this area is 4 points higher than the national average. The water is that clean, the air is polluted. There's is not much more development to be done, it's already a giant sardine can. It takes you 2 hours or more to drive 20 miles, do to the over population. I do have this one positive thing to say about St. Pete, the downtown area is starting to look awesome, very scenic to say the least. All in all, there are plenty of places in this country that are much cheaper and give you a better quality of life. By the way this site is the best one I've found so far to look for a place to live.

Sunshine State - 11/21/2006

Florida has become a state for the very wealthy. Seeing how the area I currently live in (Palm Beach County) is the southern playground for the rich and famous, why am I not surprised. It used to be very transient here. However, more and more people have decided to make it there home year round.

Florida - 11/19/2006

Moved to FL when I was 3 & have lived on the west coast of FL for 25 years now. I still love it. Obviously weather is great here. Could do without the "Season" and not hurricane season...Snowbird season...But hey, it's FL what do you expect. Beaches are beautiful! People are great! Obnoxius issues at the moment are the cost of housing and home owner's insurance on the steady rise, but in what state can you watch the sun rise on the Atlantic and watch the sunset on the Gulf in the same day if you wish?

Not objective - 9/23/2006

Ny comments cannot be called objective. I have never been interested in Florida. I consider it Mickey Mouse land, the culture is in the yogurt and I can't wait to move. That's why i am signed up here - to look for something better.

Property Insurance - 8/8/2006

Be aware when purchasing property in Florida. Property Insurance has become very expensive and the coverage is not what you might be used to in other states. For example: Most companies now require a 2% hurricane deductable.

Micco, Florida - 7/10/2006

One of the last unincorporated areas on the Indian River (Florida's East Coast Waterway, separating the mainland from the beaches.) Rural, but growing rapidly. Micco is 20 miles South of Melbourne and 20 miles North of Vero Beach. There are still housing bargains to be had, but the prices have doubled in the past year. There has never been a direct hit from a hurricane in Brevard County, but we received a great deal of damage from the past few storms that hit 70 miles South of here. The climate is semi-tropical (they say "the Tropics begin at Vero Beach"), with long hot, humid summers and wonderful balmy winters. Many people have a small home or condo here and a summer place where it is cooler.

Wow!! - 6/27/2006

From what I see, there are many angry people living in Miami. I was thinking of moving there for the diversity, but what I have read so far is very discouraging. Dont get me wrong, I love all races, but it dissapoints me to see people being so insensitive to Hispanics. The reason for a website like this is to help people migrate because they are looking for something/place better. If white people can do it, why not Hispanics?? Dont forget the fact that the Europeans imposed their language and culture on the Native Americans, so technically, it is "all mans land" the US has always been a place for a new beginning, so there is no point in changing that now. It is not these peoples fault that they want something better like everyone else!! I think a couple of people need to lighten up...take a happy pill or somthing! Sheesh!!

Orlando area - 6/19/2006

The Orlando area has plenty of recreational opportunities for families such as parks, trails, beaches (within an hours drive), attractions. The suburbs are a great place for raising a family.
