| Diversity. - 4/23/2008
Someone on here said Huntsville is extremely diverse. Compared to what? I guess if you consider Baptists, Methodists and Episcopalians diverse. This is a segregated town that is for families. Straight, white, protestant families. Snore. If you are anything else, might want to look elsewhere.

| Watch out. - 4/18/2008
Huntsville is a very conservative town with a smattering of closeted liberals. It is purely and simply a family town and very, very Christian/religious. A lot of people seem to be moving here for jobs, but you better visit first and talk to lots of locals so that you know what you are getting into. It's very Southern in that people will be extremely nice to your face and then talk smack about you behind your back to anyone who will listen. I've spent 20 years in this town, so take it for what it is worth.

| cost of living and taxes - 3/27/2008
It is inexpensive to live, in part because of low taxes. With such low taxes, though, comes virtually no public transportation and no public school buses.

| Beautiful. - 1/24/2008
I just recently relocated to Huntsville, AL and it is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen. The economy is great, the weather is beautiful, and all of the buildings are gorgeous.

I've lived in Hunsville for about 25 years, it has grown... It could use more culture there are some things to do but it's focus is not cultural. We have fish, italian ,and burgers.... We could use a cheesecake factory a justins', a papadoes, to say the least. Welcome to all the new Huntsvillians! Let your voices be heard!

| A great place to raise your kids! - 6/9/2007
I've lived in Huntsville, Alabama for 22 years now. We have a very diverse culture, and for the most part, people are friendly and inviting. There's recreation and plenty to do around Huntsville, especially for the kids. The weather is beautiful, we have very mild winters, and hot hot hot summers. The community is close-knit and involved. I love it here, I wouldn't live anywhere else.

| Huntsville - Only a Family Town - 3/14/2007
I lived in Huntsville/Madison for 15 yrs. The only real cultural activities is the space and rocket center. It is strictly a family town. If you are single, find another place to live. The education for children is exceptional because of all the scientists and engineers. You would think their wives (usually extroverts) would demand more things to be offered in the city. Houses are beautiful because of the income. I moved elsewhere...to HI.

| Great Place to Live - 10/30/2006
Huntsville is a great place to live. I moved here twenty-two years ago from Michigan. I am delighted to live here. Huntsville has all kinds of opportunities; from working in high technology industries with cutting edge programs to owning your own horse farm, or both.
This is a great place to raise a family. It is large enough to have the benefits of a big city and small enough that it doesn't have the problems of a big city. The cost of living is very good and the price of housing is especially good.
The big negatives are Alabama's tax structure that relies heavily on sales taxes (even on food) and that if there is a hint of snow the city goes into gridlock.

| It's a secret.... - 10/5/2006
I think that Huntsville, AL is a well kept secret. True, the people here are probably the worst drivers in the world, but you also have to keep in mind that most of the people here are transplants from somewhere else--so who should you actually blame, for something like that? The high-tech companies (plus NASA and the Redstone Arsenal), attract a lot of people from all over the country and world, and with the base relocation, there will be even more people moving here. I lived in Washington State for 12 years, and San Diego, CA for one year, before moving here with my husband. I love it here. I'd rather put up with the really, really hot summers, then the really, really cold and snowy winters of north central Washington State; the "backward and redneck" reputation (and being the "arm-pit" of the United States), then the out-of-this-world property prices of San Diego, California (even if they do have "perfect" weather). My family and I can live well, without being a slave to our mortgage, and there are lots of recreational opportunities as well. If we really feel like we want some big city entertainment--Nashville is less than 2 hours away. What’s not to like?

| Traffic Sucks, People are rude..Can't wait to leav - 9/1/2006
We just relocated to huntsville and are ready to leave. First, the people can not drive from this to be such a smaller city. There is a lot of traffic along Memorial Parkway in either direction no matter what time of day.
For the most part some people are nice, but we have ran into a few racist people who still think that slavery exist.
Housing is somewhat decent. 200,000 dollars will buy you a very nice home. Overall Huntsville is fr those who want to buy an SUV, run red lights, and live in a big house.
It is, however,not for me!!!

| Wide Variety - 7/20/2006
Huntsville has an extremely diverse community due to the Marshall space center and the talent it draws. Starting with the German culture influence of Dr. Werner Von Braun and his team in the fifties. With a relatively mild climate and the many lakes and Tennessee river, recreation opportunities are abundant.

| Mild winters, hot humid summers - 4/16/2006
Winter is essentially limited to January and February with occasional icing that shuts down the city for a day or two a year.

Anchorage is a great place to raise a family. Because it is the service center for an area two and a half times the size of Texas it is also surprisingly sophisticated.
