| Burnt out - 2/9/2008
Born and raised in this metropolitan area and I'm feeling quite burnt out. Fortunately, we are a military family and are 10 minutes from Andrews AFB. There's always things to do for our five year old and it's really safe. I am contemplating relocating to Charlotte. Great schools that provide special education services are our top priority. I read a posting of a parent who is struggling to get services for her child who has a form of autism. This is concerning to me. Any help would be appreciated.

| Four Seasons - 1/31/2008
Maryland is a state that definitely has four seasone. We experience each one from cold winters to hot summers along with the cool springtime and autumn.
Beautiful drives to Western Maryland include scenic beauty that are breathtaking at any time of year.

| Retired and over-taxed - 1/19/2008
Maryland is a beautiful state, I've lived here for over 45 years, and there was a time when I was employed I could afford to live here. However, since retiring, I've seen my monthly income slowly eaten away due to a constant increase in taxes. Just about everything you can imagine is taxed here....including flushing the toilet...it's called a flush tax. I assume the governor and legislature will next figue out a way to tax the air we breathe. As an aside, crime is on the increase and there's few means of protecting oneself due to Maryland's gun law....pay your money and someone else decides whether or not you are in enough danger to receive a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Therefore I'll be looking elsewhere to live as taxes and crime are running me out of Dodge.....

| Relocation - 1/2/2008
I've lived in Baltimore, Maryland all my life, and tne housing industry has just gone out of control and the economy "sucks" but thats not the reason for joining the website. My husband and I have decided to sell our 3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 bath townhouse, and move to Georgia in the next two years, reason for that is the housing market in Georgia is reasonable, and I have family there. Plus you get a lot more house for the buck. I am hopeful that this website will be a great help in our search for our next new home.

| New taxes - 12/25/2007
Our new govenor called a special session and pushed through many new taxes. 20% on sales tax (from .05 to .06 cents)and added many services that have never been taxed before. Maryland has also become a sanctuary for illegals. Illegals can get drivers licence and register to vote at the same time and no one can ask for proof of citizenship.

| POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT IN MARYLAND - 11/2/2007
Maryland is a super liberal State, with amazingly backward looking attitudes toward industry and government. The current Governor is a recently elected Democrat who defeated a the first Republican Govenor in ages. The State is now busy (Actively Busy) raising taxes on a variety of businesses, processes and individuals guaranteed to drive economic progress into nearby States. Almost everything in Maryland costs more than it does in surrounding areas.
Socially, Maryland is virtually a haven for illegal immigrants. Counties and towns actively protect the rights and privledges of illegals over the legal citizens of the State. Gang membership is growing, and middle class and some wealthy neighborhoods are being overtaken by a change in culture and language.
I recommend, with emphasis, not becoming a citizen or business within the borders of Maryland.

| High cost of living - 9/25/2007
I have lived here for over 7 years, and the cost of living keeps on getting higher. As a single mother, I struggle every day to make ends meet. The rent on apartments in the DC metro area are outrageous! Utilities, food and other items necessary to live are way too expensive in this state!

| If you have young kids....don't live here! - 7/5/2007
We have been here for a year and hate it! Parks do not exist in Maryland. This place is no fun, too hot and full of bugs. You can even go in your own back yard to play!

| Health Care in Baltimoee - 6/5/2007
Baltimore has a wonderful health care network. It is the greatness of the Johns Hopkins Hosital that drives this system.

| Maryland - 5/18/2007
Maryland has everything, mountains, rivers, lakes, chesapeake bay and the ocean. It is a wonderful place to live but: Cost of living is very high, taxes are high, housing is high. Many retirees can no longer afford to live here.

| Oakland / Deep Creek Lake Area Costs - 4/3/2007
Oakland is expensive and the nearby country is expensive too based on jobs/income. Is this because of the lake? Why would I want to live around here if there are no jobs, the lake is nice but 30 minutes away land is still 10K per 1/2 acre. I am speaking about the Yough Mountain Resort with that last quote. Although, I guess it is the appeal of private 4WD riding is something. Hmm? Thoughts?

| Base Consolidation - 8/20/2006
Maryland was on the gaining end in the military base consolidation. A large influx of people (military, civilian federal government and government contractors) are expected, especially in the Ft Meade area, by 2008. You may want to research news stories for the positive and negative impact anticipated if you are considering relocation.

| We have it all and we certainly pay for it! - 8/18/2006
I have lived in Maryland all my life, except college and grad school. Maryland has it all... ocesn and mountains, urban, suburban and rural life, culture, good schools etc.. It is a wonderful place to live and raise a family... if your paychecks are big enough. The cost of living here in central Maryland (Howard County) is very high. Housing prices are out of sight. As we age, we hope to sell our house (our savings) and move somewhere the cost of living is much less. We are looking for "Mayberry."

| To Expensive - 7/27/2006
My husband and I both make good money and yet we are still unable to afford a house. If we did decide to buy we would have to buy far outside of where we work and commut 3 hours a day. I don't like it here
