quality of life - 8/8/2007

I have lived in SW Ohio all of my 47 years. There are many more scenic places in the U.S., but none are affordable and many cities with beautiful geographic features are populated by folks who don't share conservative middle America type values which still exist in S. Ohio, Indiana and Ky. We have pro baseball and football and exceptional college basketball. River towns like Cincinnati can't compare with the Rocky Mountains, but the people are friendly and decent jobs are still around.

Tax incentive - 5/27/2007

As of this time Ohio has no tax incentive to keep people from looking elsewhere for retirement tax advantages. It would seem much to each states advantage to try to keep established residents with retirement incentives.

Ohio's Northcoast - 8/14/2006

Warm weather recreational opportunities abound along the northcoast of Ohio on lake Eries' southern shore. In late summer the water can be warmer than in the Gulf of Mexico. Sportfishing charters are more popular than ever and the beaches draw lots of people. Lake Erie has made a spectacular recovery since it was declared to be nearly "dead" in the late sixties. Its'waters are now cleaner and more blue than ever.

I live in central Ohio. The winters here are not unbearable. Not much snow, the temperature is cold, however.

Gloomy Ohio weather - 4/17/2006

Northeastern Ohio weather can be very unpredictable and rather cold and gloomy at times. One minute you will have an extremely nice day and then the next day it is snowing. It is weird. In my opinion summer lasts all of two months. Preferably it would be warm all the time here if I had control over the weather. It is nicest or warmest during this season. We do get to experience all 4 seasons in its full throttle though. Fall has its charm, the leaves are beautiful; with all the shades of gold, red, and amber. Winter can be cold and snowy, but beautiful if inside and the trees are covered. Spring brings lots of blooms, but doesnt hit until mid April. Summer is storybook. The grass is usually green and so are the trees.
