relocation and retirement - 3/23/2006

Would like a local to tell me a little about living in Spokane, it is one of the areas I am interested in relocating too in the near future. My passion is road biking/walking and bookstores/coffeeshops.

Little bit country, little bit city. Perfect mix with rural areas close and city features of larger city.

Crime and Lack of Punishment - 2/26/2006

Great place to live, close to mountains, lakes and rivers. Crime is on the high side and there are not enough jails, courts, or cops. City in poor financial shape, laying people off right and left, but there is hope on the horizon for encomic development.

Liberty Lake, WA

general living - 9/10/2005

Local motto is :near nature, near perfect! some wags have added Near Coeur d'Alene. I live half way between the cities, 10 miles to either one from Liberty Lake, Wa. Summer weather is great, lots to do, nice people here. Even the kids, never been called "Sir" more often. Most people walk their shopping cart back to the store or to the space for them. Feel very safe here. 75 lakes within 50 miles, several major ski mountains, miles and miles of bike trails, off road trails, shopping in Spokane, entertainment in Coeur d'Alene, golf courses everywhere. Downside is that great restaurants are few and far between, but it gets a little better every year. Winters are reletively mild. This is the Eastside of Washington State, which means very little rain and humidity. about 17 inches a year and the weather is generally sunny. including the little bit of snow in the winter. However, the ski mountains and the ski mobile trails seem to get a goodly amount.
