| It’s a place to visit for 48 hours, then leave. - 7/3/2021
Lived here for 3 long years. Besides the laziest people in this pathetic work force, the wind in pretty constant all year. 40 mph is not unusual. Due to the lack of finding quality workers to do renovations to the crappy homes here, we’ve nicknamed Nevada the bare minimum state. Try renting here for a few months before moving into somewhere you can’t enjoy going outside. And yes, we’ve been looking at other home/locations, Boise Idaho is in our sites to relocate.

| Fast growing town that no one seems to leave - 9/15/2020
I grew up in this fast growing town and it feels like home. When my family first moved here in 2003, there was empty land and not a lot of people, but now it feels like there isn't much room left! This south suburb of Las Vegas is great because you get the view of the Strip which has the tall buildings, food, and nightlife of a city and a comfortable suburb with horses and trails. This place feels safe, and for the most part it is, but of course you will see some people that will make you nervous, but they tend to stick to themselves. I'm not sure about the crime in the area, because nothing had ever happened to me. I'm a young girl and I'd take the bus home at night and walk home by myself without ever being bothered. There are a lot of pedestrian accidents and disputes between families that get out of hand. The drivers here suck, but traffic isn't anything after living in California for a while. Everybody seems to move here and never leave. I did, but I only know a handful of other people who did, too. UNLV is nicknamed University of Never Leaving Vegas. Not sure how true that is, but is seems like the town grows on you. It feels like there are a lot of people here that have conservative and southern values and politics, but somehow the state continues to lean liberal. Maybe they're just more outspoken.

| Not all it's cracked up to be - 12/29/2019
We currently live in Henderson and I am less than impressed. We moved here from Washington State, so we're used to really friendly people and courteous drivers. People here are emotionally detached and fairly rude and the drivers SUCK! No turn signals, people run red lights, and you get honked at if you don't move immediately. I haven't been here that long and I already can't wait to move away. Praying that a year goes by quickly.

| Great Place To Live - 5/13/2018
Hi, I have lived in Henderson since 1980 except for a 10 year period in Pahrump, NV. I believe Henderson to be a great city. Lots of parks and places to play and ride bikes. Close to all kinds of outdoor activities from boating to hiking in the mountains. If you have kids the schools in Henderson are much better than Las Vegas even though they are in the same school district. Nevada as a state doesn't have a very good reputation for education. I think it's the overall culture and participation by parents in Henderson that make it better. Henderson has the best Parks and Recreation in the valley. Lots of low cost and free activities for all ages. I hope you don't mind lots of wind, gets very windy here. I always feel safe here, even in the lower income neighborhoods. The biggest negative to moving to Southern Nevada is the poor medical. Lots of hospitals but a large shortage of Doctors. Most of the really good ones are not taking new patients.

| LIFE IN HENDERSON FOR RETIREES - 11/18/2017
WE RELOCATED FROM BOSTON, MA TO HENDERSON, NV ONLY TWO YEARS AGO IN 2015. BOTH OF US HAVE BEEN RETIRED FOR 10 YEARS AND ARE IN ARE EARLY 70'S AND IS REASONABLY GOOD HEALTH. COMPARING THE COST OF LIVING IN BOSTON COMPARED TO HENDERSON IS VERY SIGNIFICANT...MUCH LOWER IN NEVADA. HOUSING IS SOME 60% LOWER...BOSTON WAS $4200 PER MONTH VS. $1700 PER MONTH IN HENDERSON. MASSACHUSETTS HAS A 5% INCOME TAX VS. NO STATE INCOME TAX IN NEVADA..FOOD IS ABOUT THE SAME. UTILITIES ARE LOWER FOR HEATING AND ELECTRICAL..AUTO INSURANCE ABOUT THE SAME AS BOSTON AND HOUSE INSURANCE COST DROPPED SOME 80% FROM $2800 PER YEAR IN BOSTON TO $350 PER YEAR IN NEVADA...WE MOVED FROM OCEAN VIEW 3200 SF HOUSE IN BOSTON TO A 1600 SF IN HENDERSON 55+ COMMUNITY WITH MONTHLY FEES OF $60.00 PER MONTH WHICH PROVIDES A VERY NICE IN-DOOR HEATED POOL, GYM FITNESS CENTER AND A VERY LOW CRIME RATE AND CLEAN, WELL-GROOMED LANDSCAPES LOCATED IN "ANTHEM" OR SOLERA...THESE ARE DELL WEBB COMMUNITIES WHERE MOST OF THE HOUSES ARE LESS THAN 20 YEARS OLD AND REQUIRE MODERATE UPKEEP.
WE ADJUSTED TO THE "VERY WARM" SUMMERS BY SPENDING A LOT OF TIME IN-DOORS THE FIRST YEAR BUT DID ADJUST...EVERY PLACE IS AIR CONDITIONED AND WE SPEND ABOUT HALF OF THE SUMMER TRAVELING AND THE CHANGE HAS REDUCED OUR LIVING COSTS SO THAT WE CAN AFFORD TO ENJOY LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES.
WE ARE NOT GOING TO LEAD ANYONE ON, WE HAVE A VERY NICE INCOME LEVEL, NOT RICH BUT COMFORTABLE AND THE MOVE RELEASED APPROXIMATELY $45,000.00 PER YEAR FOR DISCRETIONARY SPENDING.
WE HAVE FOUND MEDICAL SERVICES ARE GOOD...BUT WE ARE HEALTHY AND DO NOT REQUIRE VERY MUCH BUT WE DO TAKE PREVENTATIVE MEASURES AND GET AN ANNUAL CHECK-UP AND REGULAR DENTAL.
WE HAVE FOUND THE PEOPLE TO BE FRIENDLY AND COURTEOUS...THESE 55+ COMMUNITIES SEEM TO BE CONDUCIVE TO PERSONS WHO HAVE RETIRED ALTHOUGH SOME STILL HAVE PART TIME AND FULL TIME JOBS.
A KIND WORD OF ADVICE, MAKE MULTIPLE VISITS TO PLACES THAT YOU YOU MAY CONSIDER FOR YOUR NEXT HOME...WE MADE SEVERAL TRIPS HERE BEFORE MOVING.
WE HAD RESIDED IN BOSTON FOR 50 YEARS AND OUR FAMILY IS ALL GROWN UP ONE IN CALIFORNIA AND THREE IN MASSACHUSETTS WHO WE VISIT SEVERAL TIMES EACH YEAR... WE BOUGHT A HOUSE AFTER LEASING FOR THE FIRST YEAR...IT GIVES YOU MORE FLEXIBILITY IN CASE YOU WANT TO CHANGE.
ONE LAST NOTE...THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE HERE WHO HAVE RELOCATED FROM THE NORTHEAST AND MID-ATLANTIC AND MIDWEST TO ESCAPE COLD WEATHER AND THE HIGHER COST OF LIVING WHICH SEEMS TO BE A COMMON THREAD. I CANNOT COMMENT ABOUT YOUNG FAMILIES MOVING HERE AND, IF THIS IS YOUR SITUATION, I WOULD MAKE SURE THE SCHOOLS AND GENERAL ASSOCIATED SERVICES THAT YOUR FAMILY REQUIRES ARE SATISFACTORY FIRST. WHERE EVER YOU DECIDE TO MOVE, THE BEST OF LUCK TO YOU. WE USED SPERLING'S .COM
FOR TWO YEARS AND FOUND IT TO BE THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE ONE...AND WE USE OTHERS BUT THIS WAS OUR BEST ONE,

| Las Vegas to Henderson, Nv - 5/20/2015
After living all over the Las Vegas valley I made the move down to Henderson last year. So far I LOVE it. The overall quality of life is, for the most part, a lot better here. I plan to stick around for several years!

| Relocation in mind for Henderson - 2/11/2015
My Wife and I are thinking about moving to Henderson NV. We know Very Little about the town. We seek information from people who live in town so we can get the Real views of what the town is like. We seek Warmth for one, Safe areas where you can take a walk at night and not be fearful of being robbed or hurt . I am in the Mining field and was told there are mines in the area that hire on a regular bases. I work above ground and drive a 100 Ton Mine Hual truck.
We Now live in Pennsylvania but are so tired of the snow and cold and ice. We have lived in 7 states in our years for I was in the Military as a Navy Seal Commander so moved around alot. We seek to make this our last move. Any ideas would be very helpful. Thank you, take care all and Bless You all. David & JOann

Poor senior health care. Limited doctors and long waits to get appointments. Hospital ER's are all packed

| Its hot hot hot - 8/8/2014
The only thing I don't like about Henderson is the summers. That may sound crazy for some- but it is so hot during those 4 months that it makes it hard to do any outdoor living. If you want to take the dogs to the park or walk in the park, it has to be real early- say before 9am. Of course unless you like to sweat to death.

| Henderson/Las Vegas - 9/16/2012
Cheap housing, great entertainment......BUT Vegas area is VERY secluded!
You can get anyplace around town in 30 minutes. This town get's old fast.Im always driving to LA or PHX....Moved here in 2001, departed in 2003 but returned in 2010 and cant wait to leave. Its a good place to visit, and it's cheap to fly/stay however there are so many more awsome cities in this US. Think twice before moving to Vegas.........I grew up on the atlantic ocean in Florida, have lived in Scottsdale,AZ, Houston,TX, Denver,CO (denver is really amazing) and Calabasas,CA......ask me anything if you want.have a nice day.

| Illegal to start a business in your own garage/hom - 12/17/2011
After serving my country overseas for decades I purchased a house here 3 years ago. My parents have lived here for 25 years or so.
The only thing I wanted to do was start a small business in a small shop behind my house and help take care of my parents. I spent 11 years purchasing mills and lathes and storing them here, getting ready so everything was squared away when the time came. I purchased a home with a huge shop in the back (already made). Poured a new concrete floor etc., to get everything ready.
I left Afghanistan a few months ago to start it. Happiest time of my life right! First thing I did was go down to the City Hall to get a business license. Imagine my surprise to find out that in Henderson, NV it is ILLEGAL to have any kind of home based business in your garage or shop. Unbelievable. Never in my wildest dreams did I even imagine that people could ban people from having a business in their own homes. They have taken that freedom away.
So if Steve Jobs were here, it would have been illegal for him to start Apple computer. There would have been no Ford Motor Company, Hewlett-Packard or Harley-Davidson, etc. No wonder the country is so screwed up. All over this town are over-priced, industrial parks with row after row of empty buildings.
They want 2k and up a month to rent them. Gee, I wonder why they are empty? Guess what you Henderson City Hall Rocket Scientist's? You killed off the start-ups before they had a chance to get big enough to need a 2,000 a month commercial building. I guess it's more important to keep the people that own the empty industrial parks paid than to give people their freedom to do what they want to do.
So for me, instead of starting a business and maybe hiring some people later as my business grows, I'm selling off everything. Thanks Henderson. Thanks a lot. So much for entrepreneurship and helping small businesses. Come to Henderson if you want to flip burgers at McDonald's or work as a checkout person at WalMart. But if your an entrepreneur, my advise is stay as far away from this town as possible.

| Henderson, NV - 9/24/2011
I have lived in Henderson, NV for 3 years and I think that it's a great city and everyone that I have met are all very friendly. I do not have any small children that go to school here however, I heard that the "Green Valley" area has very good schools. By the way, the shopping is great at the "Gallera Mall" on Sunset Blvd plus, there are alot of great restaurants in the area to choose from.

| Unemployment in Nevada is at an all time high - 7/31/2011
There is little diversity in the job market in southern Nevada. The casinos are the number one employer here. Lost jobs and home forclosures run rapid. Henderson is a much more community interest city than Las Vegas.

| cost of living in high - 6/2/2011
I would not believe the cost of living index for Henderson, NV. We pay an average of $600 a month for gas, electric and water and we live in a Pulte single story energy star home! We live in a igloo! We only turned our heater on a few times last winter. We make really good money and can not afford to live here anymore since the cost of living has more than doubled since we moved here 10 years ago. No income tax but there are plenty of other fees and taxes to make up for that; ie. car registration, LID's etc!!! Our electric costs get as high as $550 in the summer with the thermostat set at 78. Keep in mind, summer can last from April to Sept. Nevada does not get a break on the cost of water either even though we have Lake Mead because of the agreements that were made when the dam was built.
