Living in Waverly - 4/22/2010
Waverly is located on the border of Pa. in a area of recent growth, especially since the natural gas interest in the area. although The taxes in NY appear to be higher in NY. We don't have the nickel and dime taxes of Pa.which if those were added to Pa.'s overall taxes. Waverly NY beats Pa. hands down. The school has a High graduation rate, and is among the best in the state. Also Waverly's utilities come from Pa for a lower rate, 1/3 cheaper than NYSEG. Tioga County Taxes are among the cheapest in the state and there are several community colleges and 1 university in the area. and although the economy has hit every one hard. Schweitzer Aircraft and Lockheed marten are continually accepting government contracts. Also Best Bye has recently established a distribution center In Tioga County and CVS is establishing a distribution center in Waverly both just off Route 86 which runs directly Through Waverly and Tioga County. The economy here is terrible. Jobs are few and far between. Taxes are high and continue to dramatically increase due to poor government management and escalating debt. Nice rural area with relatively low crime but not a very bright
