AN ISLAND IN THE OZARKS c 2018 lr/sr - 1/25/2019
It’s hard to describe this village. It’s probably one of the best kept secrets anywhere. Winding, hilly tree lined streets are punctuated by stretches of wooded landscape. There are five beautiful lakes providing realistically priced waterfront living (as compared to other towns).
It is not a retirement community but does offer a lot for retirees. Two excellent golf courses, several pools, a well equipped gym, our own police and fire department, post office and my favourite, a waterfall, hiking trails and great fishing. The village is less than an hour from Batesville and tad bit more than an hour to Mountain Home. Little Rock is about 2.5 hours from us. If you are looking for night life and excitement, this may not be your best bet. However, with homes that range from $40,000 or less up to $600,000 or more, there is no neighborhood stigma. A Village address could mean you are rolling in dollars or just getting by.
This almost bucolic Village is a breath of fresh air. Read More

We couldn't believe our furtune finding a large home on the beautiful Spring River and on a well-kept natural golf course that should prove well within our retirement income. Neat tidy homes in Cherokee Village AR run half to a third of national averages for private recreational communities. Super low taxes and assessments clinched the deal, makinf it unbeatable. Arkansans are friendly conservative folks, totally unpretentious, and the area reminds you of an earlier era. Within a few miles you have 2 golf courses and 5 lakes. In addition to golf and water sports, people enjoy playing tennis, rock hounding, trout fishing and hanging out at Carols Lakeview Diner that still offers $3 specials and $8 fresh-baked pies. I've enjoyed my bustling hussle years as a high-rise city dweller, in Chicago, and ten years of the great outdoors offered even greater fun in Durango Co. Now it's time to settle into a warmer, quieter, peaceful lifestyle that I was surprised to find laid-back in the Read More
