Windy, affordable, relatively safe and bland - 5/5/2024
Cathedral City is cheaper than Palm Springs and a few other local cities. It has lovely mountain views.

It's a decidely middle-middle class community, especially on the north end of town. Homes are on the smaller side of what I'm used to, and are updated but rather bland. HOAs abound, and don't seem to offer more than standard amenities-- pools, playgrounds, small fitness centers. You can find homes with pools and solar, but pools require a lot of maintenance considering the frequent wind storms, and most homes do not have paid off solar.

Cathedral City seems most suitable for families with younger children or budget-conscious retireds.

Unfortunately, there are not many parks outside of the HOAs and not much that would be considered walking or running trails in town.

Shopping and dining are near by, but mostly consists of a few chains, auto body shops, and taco shops in strip malls, which have numerous vacant storefronts. There are Read More
