Morongo Valley housing & quality of life - 3/14/2010
Very rural, most homes are on 2.5 - 5 acres, many have horses. Mix of housing, some very new and modern mixed with older cabins and remodels. Very quiet and safe neighborhoods where neighbors generally look out for each other. Shopping is either in Yucca Valley - 5 mi drive, or for more sophisticated fare Palm Springs - 25 min. drive. Housing prices vary greatly because of the rural nature of the area, sales comparables have no relevance. Very nice homes run $250-300,000. Smaller homes $125-150,000. I have a 2000sf house for rent and will be asking $1100/month.

Morongo Valley has just been introduced to be a part of Desert Protection Act of 2010 which would make it a part of a National Monument. The Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is a primary attraction for nature lovers and birders.  Read More
