Comments about Montezuma county - 2/8/2015
I have lived between Cortez and Mancos for 12 years.Mancos has grown over 17% in that time, which isn't really that much considering there are only about 1200 people in Mancos proper. The influx is mostly due to people who work and play in Durango.Housing there is very expensive and in comparison Mancos housing is very cheap, even with the 25 mile commute.(BEAUTIFUL DRIVE WITH NO TRAFFIC JAMS) This whole area is very beautiful and there is lots of excellent outdoor activity. There is really not much going on in cultural activities or shopping. It is a safe area and a good place to raise children. If you are a joiner you can make many acquaintences.Employment can be a problem if you don't have contacts or the right education .However, when I moved here I got an appropriate job right away. Also, It's a great area for retirement. The weather seems to have become much milder in the last 5 years, with only about 2 serious snowfalls each year for the last 3 years.
