Excellent place to live and retire to - 1/17/2018
I moved to Lewes in 2009 and it has been a great experience so far. Sussex County has the lowest property taxes in the state and Delaware has no sales tax making it a great place to retire. Everything I need is close by which is very convenient. Lewes has great shopping, golf, fishing, restaurants, and many different activities to keep you busy all year round. All of the people I have come across have been friendly and I would highly recommend checking out Lewes as a place to visit or move Read More

An excellent choice for retireees - 12/2/2014
Lewes has so much to offer for retirees! It has a great library, wonderful classes for lifelong education (through the Osher Institute, affiliated with U.D.), and a town beach with little or no surf. It is also home to the Beebe Medical Center. The town is also adjacent to Cape Henlopen State Park, which has ocean beaches and miles of walking and bike paths. The supermarkets are out on Rte One, but most of what you need for and active and interesting life is withing walking distance in the City of Lewes.Read More

Low taxes abound! - 12/23/2010
I've lived in Lewes, Delaware practically my whole life and love it here. It’s a tight-knit community that really focuses on one another. Lewes frequently tops the media's "best places to live" lists – including, Coastal Living Magazine in November, 2010. The primary reason is the low state-wide taxes, but especially in Sussex County. Real Estate taxes typically they hover just below $1,000 per year! We top also because of our clean, safe and access-anytime beach; the special architecture within the town and all the outdoor activities you can do. Also, the state is tax-free; which is a blessing with 130 Tanger Outlet stores just down the road in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. If you need more information on our area, just ask.
