Don't move here unless you are wealthy - 4/18/2008
I have lived in Florida for 25 years and regret having ever moved here. Unfortunately, I now have roots and family here and I could not stand being away from them. However, if you have the choice, just say no! The cost of living is one of the highest around compared to the wages - which stink! Employers tend to have the attitude that they can hire a "retiree" at half the cost and they will work for very little - most are supplementing social security. Even for professionals, the pay stinks compared to the cost of living. So, unless money is not a concern, I wouldn't advise anyone to ever move to Florida. Just look around at the people - most have worried, hurried or just frowns on their faces. Southern hospitality does not exist here. Many just refer to Florida as the New York of the South. It's all about me and what I have or Read More

Not all that humid - 3/12/2008
Living here almost 3 years, I check temperature and humidity daily. Early morning and late evening are very humid. But April thru October I have to add 3 inches of water to my pool every 3-4 weeks because the daytime humidity is in the 30-60% range. Most midwestern cities are even higher during the summer months. Thought I would correct some mistruths about Florida Read More

Land O Lakes - 7/10/2007
We actually live in the outskirts of the city, which is good for nature lovers. The beauty of the area is often breathtaking whether it be by witnessing the intensity of a good thunderstorm or by delighting in the awesome wildlife. The Sandhill Cranes are incredible, and nothing beats the vision of storks and pelicans flying overhead. Even and occaisional glimpse of alligators, minks and turtles are enjoyable. We are only minutes from the Gulf of Mexico, which has delightful sunsets. This has to be the closest I have been to Read More

Driving conditions - 12/4/2006
Prepare to camp out whenever traveling in Pasco County. Every detour could take you about 30 miles with overcrowded roads and many timid drivers. No infrastruture. Two lane roads everywhere that needs to be six lanes. A large percentage of roads in Pasco are still dirt roads. Just think, more housing developments to crowd these road more, and that won't end any time soon. Bring water, and living supplies with you all the time, and always start your travels with an empy bladder. You will end up spending the largest percent of time on the road to shop and work. If you have only two hours a day to dedicate for regular every day travel, you will have to alocate more then double that time if a road is blocked and a detour Read More
