Reisterstown, MD - small town feel, but close to t - 12/3/2009
Reisterstown is a small town in Northwest Baltimore County. It has many small, locally owned businesses, including a general bookstore, Constellation Books, a coffee shop, Java Mammas, at least one cafe with delicious sandwiches (Alices'). There is a good local library - not big, but comfortable and a decent selection of materials. The schools are pretty decent from what I hear - my daughter is not nearly old enough for school yet. Most of what we need is within walking distance or driving distance of our home. It's a pretty green area (lots of trees) and there are at least two good parks in the Read More

Quality of Life in Reisterstown, Maryland - 11/20/2009
This small town just northwest of Baltimore provides surprisingly convenient and pleasant living. The cost of housing is less than many other nearby areas. The Baltimore Metro comes out to Owings Mills, which is just next to Reisterstown, and from the metro you can easily get downtown to the ball fields for the Ravens or Orioles and also to places like Johns Hopkins Hospital. There is a new recreational complex with several ball fields, lit for night playing and an indoor ice skating facility. There are golf courses here and also nearby. The Hannah More Center offers a Senior Center, outdoor plays in the summer evenings, and hosts the annual Reisterstown Days festival, with a parade and musical entertainment, just after Labor Day. Shopping, services, and restaurants are all convenient. A commute to Washington, D.C. is only one hour when there is no traffic. However, traffic can be a huge issue during commuting hours, to either Baltimore or other work locations. Maryland Read More
