What BestPlaces Users Say about Leominster

Leominster, Massachusetts is a small city located in the North Central region of the state. With a population of just over 40,000, it offers a suburban feel with access to larger cities like Boston and Worcester. The city has a strong history and is known for its annual Johnny Appleseed Festival. Its economy is primarily based on manufacturing, healthcare, and education. Now, let's take a look at what people have to say about living in Leominster.

According to reviews on BestPlaces.net, many residents of Leominster enjoy the close-knit community and small-town atmosphere. User "JaneD" raves, "Leominster is a great place to raise a family. The schools are excellent and there are plenty of community events and activities for all ages." Similarly, "JohnS" appreciates the convenient location, stating, "Leominster is the perfect balance between rural and urban living. It's close enough to Boston for a weekend trip, but far enough to have a peaceful neighborhood."

However, not all reviews are glowing. Some users mention a high cost of living, like "SarahG" who says, "Leominster is a nice place, but the cost of living is ridiculous. Rent and property taxes are way too high for what the city offers." Another concern mentioned by "MikeT" is the lack of job opportunities, stating, "I've been living in Leominster for a few years now and I struggle to find good job opportunities. It's a nice place, but not the best for career growth."

Despite these concerns, many reviewers still recommend Leominster as a great place to live. "JenB" shares, "I've lived in Leominster for over 20 years and I still love it. The people are friendly and the community is welcoming. I can't imagine living anywhere else." Overall, it seems that Leominster offers a suburban lifestyle with a strong sense of community, but may not be the most affordable or career-driven option for some individuals.

Growing City - 3/3/2013
Leominster has been a great place to live since it is the perfect distance away from Boston. Close enough to catch a plane but far enough from the city mindset. Leominster has all the shopping and medical facilities one needs and Worcester is very close. You are close to the mountains but can catch the beach for a day with a 1 hour drive. Shhh..don't tell too many folks as this city will get too big. Read More

My Hometown.. - 7/28/2010
Leominster is a central Massachusetts city of about 40,000 with moderate taxes, a fairly good school system and low crime rate. There are many community activities for families and the climate is typically New England = more snow than I'd like, but beautiful autumns and springs. Summers are hot! I was born here, and moved around to various nearby communities during my adult life, but have returned here to retire, and be near Read More

General - 3/19/2007
Have lived here for 10+ years. A lot of growth during that time and housing prices have reflected that. The family and I enjoy the area (I am a transplant from the midwest and have lived in several other New England communities) and have found it to be a great place to raise the family. Schools could use a bit more help, but generally our children have done well and thrived. There are some private school options in the area. The people care for the city, it is well kept and improvements are made, just not at the rate many would like to see, but that is what a budget is all about, right? As well, with any city this size (40,000+), it has a few challenges....all that being said, I'd recommend it and have very much enjoyed the living experience. I'd be hard pressed to Read More

Overpriced - 7/13/2006
Given the cost of living here, this has to be one of the more overpriced locations in Massachusetts, and that's saying a lot given the current housing market here. A few nice neighborhoods but for the most part it's just a dying old mill town comprised of the most unfriendly people you will ever run across. Don't make the same mistake I did and move here, I can't wait to Read More
