A nice little place to raise kids - 3/19/2007
I have lived in Montrose, Mi. most of my life. It used to be a great place to raise kids, and it still is, despite the fact that the economy has taken a nose dive recently. The local economy has always relied on the Auto industry in Flint, and Saginaw, but since most of the factories have closed, and all of the satellite businesses dried up, the unemployment rate is twice the national average. That makes crime in the cities go up, too. Montrose hasn't been too affected by the rising crime rate, but the unemployment has taken it's toll. Everywhere you look, there are houses for sale, foreclosures, and people moving to better economic climate.
