Nice town - 3/20/2019
Not sure what happened to the reviewer from 2011, but have to disagree. Grandview is a racially diverse community for sure, maybe being in the minority felt too real for the reviewer, who knows. At any rate, GV has a small town feel, a usable updated downtown (great model train store if you're into it), plus the convenience of being located close to access to all parts of the city.
It kind of sounds like the person fell prey to some myth about the midwest. Born here, lived a lot of different places in this country in the last 40 years, back home now for retirement. Geographical diversity is largely a myth. I like this community. It has a lot to offer. If a person has a problem with diversity they need only spend about twice as much for housing and move across to Johnson County. Great quiet community - 1/11/2018
Grandview is a great little community in the South Kansas City metro area. Good and varied housing stock and a responsive and active local government. It's a community with fun character and a great atmosphere. There have been lots of updates to the community recently with a renovated main street and shopping center. Great highway access and about 10 minutes or less from most parts of Read More

Looks Can Be (And Are) Deceiving - 9/16/2011
Take our word for it. It is not crime free here. It is not quaint. You cannot go outside at night without having someone with you and then you have to watch your back. Kansas City was ranked the 8th most dangerous city to live this year. Grandview it is ghetto. Inner city gangs wander the streets at night. Downtown Grandview is only safe when the coffee shop is open and then you make certain you aren't walking to your car alone.

Also whites are not liked here. I have no idea why? We moved here from the West Coast where that is unheard of. I always have had friends of all races but not here, I am loathed, leered at, despised and no one even takes the time to get to know us. If you are considering moving here, I highly suggest you turn around and go back or go somewhere else (the Midwest and South are becoming very crime ridden, the East and West Coast are much better as far as safety is concerned) I plan to move back to the West Coast as soon as I am able to.
