East Rockaway, New York is a small village located in Nassau County on Long Island. It has a population of approximately 10,000 people and is known for its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. Many visitors and residents are drawn to East Rockaway for its charming small-town feel and access to scenic beaches and parks. However, as with any place, there are mixed opinions about living in East Rockaway. Here are four user reviews from BestPlaces.net that provide a glimpse into what it's like to live in this particular place.

1. "I have lived in East Rockaway my entire life and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. It has a real sense of community and is the perfect place to raise a family. The schools are top-notch and there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy." - Emily S.

2. "I have been living in East Rockaway for a few years now and I have to say, the cost of living is ridiculous. The housing market is overpriced and the property taxes are outrageous. It's a shame because it really is a nice place to live otherwise." - Mike D.

3. "I moved to East Rockaway from the city and I absolutely love it. It's a great mix of urban and suburban living. There are great restaurants and shops within walking distance, but the beach is just a short drive away. Plus, the commute into the city is not too bad." - Samantha L.

4. "I have lived in East Rockaway for over 20 years and I have seen it change a lot. It used to have a small-town feel, but now it's becoming more urbanized. The traffic and noise have increased significantly. I miss the old East Rockaway." - John R.

Overall, it seems that East Rockaway has a lot to offer with its strong sense of community, proximity to the ocean, and convenient location. However, some residents have expressed concerns about the high cost of living and potential changes to the village's character. Ultimately, it's important for individuals to visit and experience East Rockaway for themselves to determine if it's the right place to call home.

Great mini town - 9/2/2008
I moved to calm ER from busy Queens 4 years ago and do not regret it at all. This is a very tiny town surrounded by other great towns, Lynbrook, Hewlett, Oceanside and Rockville Centre. It's very safe, schools are wonderful, my children love it here. Commute to midtown NYC is 40 min. Close to the beach. Everything is accessible (shopping, restaurants, etc.). However, I have to mention that it is expensive to live here, price of houses very high, taxes are high, cost of food seems higher than in Queens, and commute much higher than city subway (city subway $70/month vs LIRR $206/month). But the way we see it, we have to pay the price for living in a great area to raise kids, with top schools, where we can still leave the front door open all day; after all there are more expensive areas in Read More
