Cost of Living Too High - 3/13/2014
While we are surrounded by beautiful nature - the cost of living here is astronomical and we are still an hour and a half from NYC. The weather is extreme. Time to move on.... I will miss the beauty of the area - but not anything else.

An overall assessment - 6/23/2007
This Hudson valley is beautiful. Being able to sit on the deck in the evening and not fight bugs is wonderful. More stars at night than you can count.
Population density is high (much, much road traffic). Many very aggressive and impatient motorists. Road conditions are horrible. Too much traffic and not enough resources to fix the road surfaces after the winter freezes.
Real estate taxes are scary. Home prices are high.
Deer are simply pests. They devour just about anything green.
Most people are like anywhere else I've been - as friendly as the next.
However, stopping to help strangers is more rare, and it is clear that a lot of over stressed folks from the New York city area have moved up
