A Great Town to Live - Highland Village - 11/19/2019
I have lived in Highland Village for over 18 years in the Castlewood subdivision. I have seen this town grow a lot over this time and it is a GREAT place to live in the DFW metropolitan area. I would rate HV as in the top 10% of all cities and towns within DFW. The town has very nice and convenient retail centers including restaurants, AMC movie theatre and large stores like Wal-Mart and Target. It offers close proximity to Lake Lewisville, parks and miles of biking and walking trails. The schools are top notch and the city is very green oriented - planting lots of trees and shrubs along the roadways. The housing costs are reasonable compared with Dallas, Plano, Frisco and other towns north of Dallas. HV is rated as the safest town in DFW in 2019. HV is a GREAT place to live for many reasons and it now being recognized for all that it has to offer to its

Great citizens and amenities - Terrible city gover - 6/24/2014
My family has lived in Highland Village for seven years. Before this, we lived in Flower Mound for seven years. We love our neighbors, the shopping, and the overall culture of this small, close, clean town.
On the other hand, the city government is abusive and aggressive. The police visit your home within the first week or so of moving in "just to get to know you". Seems so nice and quaint. They leave their card and offer to help in any way they can. The police chief will tell you (if you meet him in person) that they even waive your first traffic ticket once the officers check and see that you have no preexisting moving violations. How wonderful you think.... so did we.
Last week the water department drafted $788 out of our banking account for the water bill. Turns out they made a mistake... you think??? Now they want to keep my money as a credit. They say they cannot return it to my bank account. Wait! This can't be true, but it is.
