Commuting - 8/22/2009
Lynnwood is a small city of approximately 34,000 people located in South Snohomish County. It's a 20 minute ride to downtown Seattle from here. Many residents work in Seattle and commute using public transportation to get there. The local bus company,Community Transit, has several buses that conveniently carry people to downtown Seattle, the University of Washington and other destinations from a transit center in Lynnwood. Using Public transportation is a nice and convenient alternative to Read More

Lousy Weather This Year - 6/3/2008
This winter was/is one of the coldest and longest since my return to Washington state a few years ago. I also lived here in the late 80's/early 90's, and our recent winter weather of 2007/2008 was/is colder and wetter than those years as well.). I guess the questions are: "When will Winter end? (It's already June!) And, whatever happened to Spring?" This latest winter was so brutal that all of my outdoor plants died except for two that were kept close to the house. I am particularly worried about the potted plants we've just planted in anticipation of Spring, because the rain keeps pouring down, and these plants need the SUN in order to survive and thrive! And, how about those long awaited summer camping trips many of us crave? Can you plan any trips in Washington state? I, for one, certainly don't believe in camping in the rain and mud! Is this global Read More

Good memories from Meadowdale - 4/15/2008
I went to Meadowdale high school, Lynnwood, in '85. At that time the buildings were quite worn, but the teaching was excellent, and the classmates the best I ever had. A great emphasis on music programs, theatre and fine arts - as an example of what makes a good school vibe, in my Read More

Unrelentingly gloomy winter. - 4/6/2008
Love the metro area for the variety of activities and scenery, but the enthusiasm to do any of it is often dampened (quite literally) by the weather. This is especially true of the winters. Late spring and summer are just beautiful, but all too Read More

Lynnwood, Wa - 9/12/2007
Lynnwood, Wa and surrounding area is not a very nice place to live anymore. We've lived in the area for 40 years and hopefully we will be able to get out. We are now retired and plan to look elsewhere, although it will be hard to leave our children and grandchildren. The quality of life in this area has declined drastically. The traffic is beyond awful. It doesn't look clean and neat as it used to. All these new people have moved in and of course now our county council and governor expect the voters to approve huge tax increases in addition to those we already suffer to correct what their bad decisions have caused. All our government officials in this area seem interested in is which town can build the biggest convention/events center. The new homes being built are on postage stamp lots, the children must play in the streets because they have no yards. Many people are not keeping up their yards. I am afraid to live in my own home anymore because of all the local crime we read Read More

Not the biggest, Not the flashiest, Not the riches - 6/8/2007
Lynnwood is a solid, middle-class, diverse community between Seattle and Everett with access to both freeways (I-5 and 405). It has a major shopping center, convention center, is near Puget Sound, mountains, hiking. The library is the busiest of the Sno-Isle Library system; citizen participation is encouraged through Lynnwood Citizen's (Police) Academy and City (Civics)University. Edmonds Community College is within Lynnwood boundaries. Temp. does not vary much between Lynnwood and Read More

Heard many great things, but would like to know mo - 3/21/2007
My family and I are planning to relocate and Lynnwood seems to be a good choice from the internet and book references. Would like to know how the schools are and average rental prices for a 2bdr. Is it true the weather is worse than Seattle and Everett? Thanks in Read More

Lynnwood isnt that nice - 9/28/2006
There are some nice parts of Lynnwood, but as a whole, it's not the nicest place to live. Our next place to live in this area will be on the East Side (Bellevue, Woodinville, Kirkland, Redmond, Read More
