Review of Cincinnati, Ohio

Cincinnati
Star Rating - 6/6/2007
Cincinnati is an excellent place to live. Certainly in mid-America, it is unsurpassed for beauty, charm and scenic views; extensiveness of riverfront and other parks; architecture and historic neighborhoods; and world class symphony, music conservatory, arts, theater, museums, and club and independent music scene. Not to mention fine schools and three major universities in the metropolitan area. This is not just my opinion. Places Rated Almanac named Cincinnati the most liveable city in America in 1993 and it continues to rank high in national publications. In addition, the Christian Science Monitor previously named it one of American's five most liveable cities, Winston Churchill concluded Cincinnati is the most beautiful inland city in America, the New York Times last year named it as a top 10 location for a Spring vacation to see modern architecture, and so forth. Every place has its weaknesses to work on, but Cincinnati's strengths far outweigh them.

I lived in Cincinnati for two years in the early 80's and it is a breathtakingly beautiful city. I lived in Clifton and there was always lots to do. Cincinnati in the summer was close to heaven. I like a good hot summer and walking around gazing at the hills of the neighborhood and the ancient housing stock perched on them. It is a remodeler's paradise really. I now go on flicker and browse through Cincinnati house pictures, downtown panaramas and the like. I did find cincinnati a little dangerous and unfriendly but the Northern Kentucky downtown area I recently visited had everything I liked about Cincinnati without being so dangerous and being a more middle class area.

Hello, I currently live in Cincinnati, Ohio, have been here since about 1988 - 89 and want out of the NATI. Although I have one son and four wonderful grandkids, life in Cincy has changed, jobs are becoming more obsolete here, there is no job growth, manufacturing is dead, and the inner city is getting worse and worse, i dont enjoy going downtown or to parks anymore, and i would not take my three cutie pie granddaughters downtown unless i put bullet proof vests on all of them. I am considering moving to Houston because I've heard job growth and pay is better and cost of living is low. I'm 51 yrs. old, can you pls advise. I really don't see any future here staying in ohio.

Thank you for the good review of Cincinnati. I am planning to move to Cincinnati in 2009. I am nearing retirement and I want to live in a quiet section of the city where there are bookstores and libraries. I plan to take courses at UC and participate in intellectual discussion groups. Can you suggest a section of the city for me? I am also single and an exercise enthusiast.
