I was offered over a 30% raise to move here a year ago by myself to an area where I knew no one. A year+ later I still know almost no one. From day 1 my coworkers (all natives) plopped work on my desk, didn't ask anything about me, invite me out to lunch, get to know me or nothing. A few other locals who cared to share said it would take years for me to be accepted. I hope I'm not here long enough to find out.

I could see it's a good place to raise a family-stay out of the city itself (high crime), stick to the burbs, and vote republican. Saddle up yer huge SUV and drive, drive, drive. All things I have no interest in. Culture lover? Open minded? Progressive? Single? Look elsewhere-you'll either die from boredom or go nuts. At least the bike trails are good. I'd love to take them with me when I leave. :)

I am thinking about moving to Cincinnati from the extremely liberal west coast. I want an area that is conservative, quiet and stable. Is this generally true for the Hyde Park region of the city?
