I had to shake my head as I read your scathing review. Especially once I found out you are from Wisconsin. I am from the Carolinas and had the great misfortune to be transferred to a job in Bay City Wisconsin. I came here with hopes of a good beginning, new friends, pleasant living conditions. Instead, I found the polar opposite. And POLAR can be taken both ways! The weather here is absolutely ABYSMAL! Below zero for weeks at a time, gray, dark, freezing, ugly, depressing. I will take a week or so of 100+ over this any time. Things here are just plain EXPENSIVE. People are as cold and unfriendly as the weather. I have tried to have conversations with people here and had them actually turn their backs to me and start a conversation with someone else. I have made a total of ONE friend in 6 months. So your comments about unfriendly people in the south fall on deaf ears here. My guess is that you came south and loudly proclaimed your liberal points of view and managed to offend everybody. Southern people are full of charm and grace and hospitality - until you offend them. And your statement that the other dog sodomized your dog - make me laugh. The human animal is the only species that does that. Real animals are much more civilized. I hope you DO get a job transfer back to Wisconsin. You are clearly as unhappy there as I am here. Maybe we could just swap houses and both be happy. I'm counting the days and hours until I can get back home.

I have read these very disparaging reviews about Florence, S.C. It seems to me that it is in fact written with extreme hatred towards people who embrace mainstream values. I am sure someone from liberal California would not be happy there or anywhere in South Carolina. What is amazing, they flee high taxed areas that they have help ruined, then, come to another jurisdiction and vote for the same kind of policies that lead to high taxes. I have met bigots everywhere! However, believing in the Bible does not make you a bigot. It's seems there's an extreme prejudice here by some against people of faith. It also shows that so called outsiders are in fact the ones who may be the bigots. It's sad that someone would take so much time writing disparaging things; just move back to where you came from. My hope is that all the folks from N.Y. and N.J. would just stay up there along with their bad driving and voting habits; and not to mention all their bad social dysfunctions they bring with them.
