We are moving to Salem

Hi, we are moving to Salem next year, sight unseen and I was wanting to know what parts of Salem are the good neighborhoods and where the bad neighborhoods are as we have young children. Also can anyone tell me which schools are the better ones? thanks

West Salem has a really good neighborhoods with nice houses. Its will be west of downtown and west of the river. Ocean is only an hour away going west. Beautiful mountains with very green forest about an hour east of Salem. I am thinking of moving to Salem from Tx because I been there before three times and I really like Oregon a lot. There really not very much bad areas in Salem but I am sure there is a few areas are not so great but overall Salem is a very nice town and I just think west Salem is the best area and its hilly in west Salem.
