Review of Payson, Arizona

For the rich
Star Rating - 1/20/2019
I've lived in Payson for three and a half years. And have never been in a city with such a high cost of living. A semi well to do neighborhood will run you 800$ or more. Even in the crummy parts I'm still paying 600. The only truly good thing about this place is the numerous hiking spots and many places to go shopping. If you have the money, move to Payson.

I'm considering Payson, as a cheaper alternative to Sedona.

I have been house hunting both Payson and Prescott for a couple of years and I see plenty of nice houses in the $450-$600K range. You have to hunt and some will sell fast. But if you love it, you love it and may decide the asking price is OK. I missed 2 at $550K in the last year (due to a period of unemployment). If you avoid a house on the golf course, where you may pay a combined $400 a month in fees, the West and South sides of town have lots to offer.

Visited Payson, last spring and loved the quaint, hometown feeling you DON'T find in the city. $800 in San Diego, CA won't even get you a cot to rent in someone's living room. I can't wait to move to Payson this year!
