Worst town besides Mexico? But Mexico's a country. About it being cold at night, it's supposed to be healthier to sleep in cold temperatures. Just pile on the blankets. :) The crime part sounds pretty bad, though.

Reasons why I love New Mexico: There is always something to do for everyone. Red and green chile, New Mexican food, Sandia and Manzano mountains, change of seasons, great weather, Low cost of living, Majority of people here are really nice. I Albuquerque is a small "big" city, that is constantly trying to improve itself. The mixture of Hispanic, Native, and so many other cultures here is beautiful; it makes life here interesting every day. The sky and hot air balloons, and snow!! Considerate drivers. Good restaurants of so many cultures, Mexican, Italian, BBQ, French, Greek, Middle Eastern, Asian: Indian, Thai, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese (great pho places!) Nature and so much to do out in it, hiking, biking, rock climbing, swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, skiing, outdoor sports. The mountains to look at every day and to drive through. Lots of fun family friendly (and adult date night) events and festivals to go to. World-class museums, shows, concerts, art galleries, and culture. There are a gazillion things to do here. I have an apartment, I literally just use for a place to sleep and hang my clothes, I'm constantly busy, out somewhere. Native American cultures. Spectacular turquoise jewelry. Great and plentiful government and community and senior services. And, it's a Blue State. No wonder it's called the Land of Enchantment.

Sandia Mountains, Old Town, BioPark, Route 66, the tram, Tingley Lake, the Bosque, volcanoes, hot air balloons, near numerous Native American reservations, many celebrations of Hispanic, Native American, Anglo, Asian and African American heritage, incredible history of all cultures, lots of air conditioning, lots of beautiful nights, many stars, arts, shopping, casinos, outdoor music, plays, family events, etc etc etc. Yes, crime is bad but it's mostly gang on gang and there are a couple of places in the city that you know not to go. It's a friendly city (unlike Santa Fe) and most people are good. And how could I forget the Chiles and food! If you only see the bad anywhere, you will miss all the good. ?? Albuquerque.
